Paneer Butter Masala

Paneer Butter Masala is a traditional Punjabi recipe in which soft pieces of Paneer are cooked in rich creamy butter & tomato gravy. Paneer Butter Masala goes by various names like Butter Paneer, Paneer Makhani etc.


Paneer -200gm
Ginger garlic paste -1 tbsp
Butter -3tbsp
Cashew nuts -2 tbsp (ground to fine paste)
Tomatoes -6 (roughly ground)
Onion – roughly chopped
Happyos chilly powder – 11/2 tsp
Happyos cumin powder – ½ tsp
Happyos turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
Coriander powder – ½ tsp
Garam masala -1/2 tsp
Sugar -1 tsp
Kasoori methi/dry fenugreek leaves -1tbsp
Fresh cream -2 tbsp


• In a pan add the butter, when heated add the ginger garlic paste and sauté.
• Then add the onions and sauté till it becomes transparent.
• Then add the ground tomatoes and garam masala powder, Happyos chili powder, Happyos turmeric powder, coriander, Happyos cumin powder, sugar and salt along with 1/2 cup water. Bring this to a boil.
• After the raw smell goes add the kasoori methi and ground cashew nut to the mixture and allow it to boil.
• Once the gravy becomes thick add the cut panner cubes put off the stove.
• Finally add the fresh cream and mix it before serving.
